Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit’s Strategy Unit recently worked with NHS England to get the evaluation of the New Care Models programme off to the best possible start.
The New Care Models programme is being delivered by nearly 40 ‘Vanguard’ sites from across the country. Each site is implementing new ways of delivering care to help realise the vision set out in the Five Year Forward View.
The Strategy Unit, working with its strategic partner ICF International, ran a series of workshops for all the Vanguard sites on ‘Logic Models’. This is a tool to provide a robust and consistent way of displaying the relationship between a programme’s resources, activities and intended results.
The workshops enabled participants from each of the Vanguard sites to understand and use Logic Models, and to map out the steps required, to achieve the ambitions of their individual new models of care. A briefing document was also produced by the Strategy Unit to accompany the workshops.
The feedback from participants was highly positive and NHS England was also very pleased, noting that the team had gone ‘over and above’ to ensure that the workshops were a success.
