Midlands and Lancashire CSU’s (MLCSU) Communications & Engagement team has been crowned Commissioner of the Year at the prestigious health service Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA) awards.
MLCSU was also named runner-up in the Partnership Working to Improve the Experience category, for the unit’s work in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent Clinical Commissioning Group and North Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
It was also nominated in the Patient Experience Team of the Year category.
“It has always been our philosophy to put patient care at the heart of everything we do, and winning this award will only redouble our efforts to ensure that their voices are heard clearly by everyone involved in healthcare.”
The team was nominated for a ground-breaking initiative which allowed GPs and practice staff to provide feedback on clinical matters and patient safety on services delivered by local providers. This information could then be combined with patient experience information to drive improvements to the system and boost the quality of services.
The team were also recognised for their work on Experience-Led Commissioning working with East Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group which has resulted in a new approach to commissioning for patient-centred outcomes.
