The Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU) Communications and Engagement Service has been shortlisted in the ‘Team of the Year’ award at the National Association for Healthcare Communications and Marketing Health Awards.
MLCSU has created a creating a unique hybrid agency of ‘best of both’ – a public sector values based agency with the best of commercial practice brought into its operations. The MLCSU communications service provides the full range of communications and engagement services to 28 Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and other public sector organisations across the country.
One of its clients, Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG, won CCG of the Year in 2013 with communications and engagement cited as its number one strength. The team has won the contract to co-ordinate the communications around the major healthcare changes following the dissolution of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust. A team of MLCSU communicators is also working with two CCGs in Shropshire and Telford and the Wrekin as they plan a transformation of NHS services under the NHS Future Fit programme.
In a recent staff survey completed by all employees 80.3% felt they worked in a culture which was inspiring to deliver and 75.76% of communications and engagement staff said they had opportunity to learn and grow.
