NHS Midlands and Lancashire’s (NHS ML) Strategy Unit, working in collaboration with their sister team, the Health Economics Unit, have been appointed to support the Department for Health and Social Care’s New Hospitals Programme.
The New Hospitals Programme is the biggest NHS hospital building programme in a generation. It was confirmed in October 2020 that 40 hospitals would be built by 2030 as part of a package worth £3.7 billion.
Acting as expert partners, our consultants will help improve the quality and consistency of demand modelling for critical national healthcare infrastructure projects. The Strategy Unit hope to achieve this by developing a common framework for demand modelling and implementing standardised ‘best practice’ methodologies for the forecasting of future demand.
The overall aim for the project is to improve the NHS’ capability by developing a national academy which will provide tools, training and education to those developing new hospital plans.
