Improving the quality and cost of blood glucose monitoring across the Mersey
Home » Case studies » Improving the quality and cost of blood glucose monitoring across the Mersey
We supported the Pan-Mersey CCGs in developing an approach that resulted in significant cost improvements in blood glucose meter (BGM) strip expenditure while prioritising the best choices for patients. By creating a guideline recommending high-quality, lower-cost BGM strips, the Pan-Mersey CCGs reduced mean strip costs and achieved theoretical savings of £423,523 annually, all while ensuring patients’ needs were met.
