Reducing medicine waste through patient-led ordering in Wirral
Home » Case studies » Reducing medicine waste through patient-led ordering in Wirral
We partnered with Wirral CCG to implement a patient-led repeat ordering system, which reduced medicine waste and improved patient safety. By removing the third-party ordering option, we empowered patients to order directly from their GP practice, cutting unnecessary prescriptions. Over five months, eight practices saw an average reduction of 2,500 fewer scripts issued monthly and achieved a cost saving of £104,000. The pilot also boosted online patient registration by 20%, with positive feedback from both patients and practices.
