Information governance (IG) and data protection are complex practices that involve a wide variety of legislative and compliance obligations– there is no one-size-fits-all model for IG management.

NHS Midlands and Lancashire’s IG Consultancy service provides a bespoke approach to working with our clients to achieve their specific goals.

These goals may include multiple aspects of our IG service creating an individual consultancy package for each of our clients.

Our team are experienced in working across many different types of projects with varying complexities, including digital transformation projects which typically require:

  • Engagement with multiple partners to ensure project-wide assurance and confidence in data processing activities
  • Translation of technical data protection requirements into clear, comprehensible actions
  • Solution focused support to provide key decision-makers with lawful, pragmatic options.

Our track record spans across many programmes, including:

  • One Health and Care Shared Record – Staffordshire and Shropshire – we co-ordinated with the Integrated Care System (ICS) health and social care partners across two ICS regions to create a secure data governance framework for the Integrated Care Record to be accessed by health and care professionals across the regions
  • Targeted Lung Health Screening Programme – Lancashire – we worked with this fast-paced project to ensure sufficient risk assessments were completed at every stage and provided expert advice on data sharing and processing across all partner organisations to make sure that individuals’ rights were not infringed.
  • Optum Population Health Management Programme – Staffordshire and Leicestershire – We worked with NHS England to facilitate the deployment of the population health management solution. The programme was a fixed 20-week programme designed to address local needs. We advised on the security and appropriate linkage of datasets and arranged the data sharing and processing arrangements across the social and healthcare partners
  • Regional Eyecare Electronic Referral Management Services (EeRS) Programme – Herefordshire and Worcestershire – we worked with ICS partners to enable the deployment of the NHS England-commissioned EeRS. This included checking if the national documentation was valid to recommend adoption and, where actions needed local processes, making sure that data sharing arrangements reflected these changes and additions. We ensured all stakeholders had easy and transparent access to the data-sharing arrangements.

Our consultation support to your organisation could include:
